Sorting Search Results

When you’re looking for something really specific, your searches may need a little something extra to narrow in on that perfect item. There are two areas on the Search Results page that allow you to bring your searching experience to the next level: sorting and special filters.

Sorting Ad Ranking

Ad ranking is where each ad appears on the page of results. In a default search, ads are sorted by their posted date with the most recent ads showing at the top of the page, below the Top Ads section. The exceptions to this are the Garage Sales and Events categories, which are sorted by the date of the sale or event.

The Sort By drop-down menu can be found on the right-hand side of the page. This menu has 4 options:

  • Posted: newest first (default)
  • Posted: oldest First
  • Price: lowest first
  • Price: highest first

Once you change this setting it will be saved for your future searches. If it doesn’t save, you may need to allow Kijiji to store cookies on your browser. If you’re still having trouble, try clearing your cookies and updating your browser.

Special Filters

If keywords and category aren’t enough to find exactly what you’re looking for, you may find the options on the left side of the page useful. This section allows you to remove any listings that don’t fit a specific filter. Some things you can use these options to filter:

  • Wanted vs Offering ads
  • Posted by a professional/dealer or owner
  • Ads within a specific price range
  • And so much more!

Note: Be sure that you have chosen a category and subcategory first, as these options change to be specific for those types of ads.

Example: The filter options within Cars & Vehicles are limited because it also includes Tires & Rims, Motorcycles, and other categories where certain filters don’t apply. Once you narrow this down to Cars & Trucks, you’ll see many more filter options such as colour, body type, and condition.
