🏳️ What is Flagging? Why Bother Reporting Ads?
Understanding Ad Reporting on Kijiji
At Kijiji, our community members play a crucial role in keeping the marketplace safe and trustworthy. By reporting suspicious or inappropriate listings, you help protect the community from spam, scams, fraud, and illegal content.
📍 How to Report a Listing
Every Kijiji ad includes a “Report Listing” option:
When you click this option, you can choose from several reporting categories:
1️⃣ Scam / Prohibited
Use this for fraudulent listings or ads that clearly violate Kijiji’s posting rules. Examples include:
- Items suspiciously underpriced (e.g., a purebred English Bulldog advertised for under $200)
- Prohibited items, such as weapons or drug paraphernalia
- Clear breaches of Kijiji’s terms of service
⚠️ Note: Personal disagreements or unsatisfactory transactions should not be reported under this category. Moderators only assess listings that clearly violate Kijiji’s rules.
2️⃣ Duplicate Posting
Select this option if you notice:
- Multiple identical listings from the same user
- Spam listings, often from overseas drop-shipping services
- Repeated postings of the same item or service
3️⃣ No Longer Relevant
Choose this category for:
- Items that have been sold
- Expired events
- Services that are no longer available
4️⃣ Miscategorized
Report listings posted in the wrong:
- Categories (e.g., vehicles listed in general buy and sell)
- Locations (e.g., international properties listed in local real estate)
- Website sections (e.g., a job posting in the wrong category)
5️⃣ Other
Use this option when additional context is needed, such as:
- Bait-and-switch practices
- Recalled products
- Items that require legal authorization to sell
⚠️ Important Notes
- No need to worry about accidental reports. Each flagged ad is manually reviewed by our moderation team.
- Ads will never be automatically removed or banned without verification.
- Reporting responsibly helps make Kijiji safer and more reliable for everyone buying and selling.
